This State Of Illinois driver and attendant training program is a 2 days Webinar Training (4 hours/day) or 1 day (8 hours/day) . The program covers the NEMT vehicle operator program as well as the passenger safety program. Students are certified at the conclusion of the webinar training and onsite driving evaluation.

Non emergency medi-car and service car transportation agencies must maintain legible documentation of the driver and employee attendant having completed a safety program approved by the Department to protect both the patient and the driver. Needed every 3 years.

AMT Ambulance has partnered with MediCarSafety to provide NEMT (non-emergency medical training program) to agencies providing non-emergent transportation services.
The NEMT training program exceeds American Disability Act (ADA) training requirements.
The training program is also recognized by insurance agencies and service providers participating in the program qualify to receive up to 10% savings for their fleet insurance coverage.
Non emergency medi-car and service car transportation agencies must certify that the driver and employee attendant, as applicable, have completed a safety program approved by the Department.
Train the Trainer Program (TTT-10)
Our Train the Trainer (TTT-10) program prepares selected employees to become certified trainers, allowing them to conduct State-approved Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) safety training within their organization. The designated employee must be part of an operational non-emergent medical transportation service.
Certification Process:
Complete the webinar sessions (either two 4-hour sessions or a single 8-hour session).
Pass the online written examination (32 questions, 80% passing score).
Undergo an on-site evaluation to review all passenger securement procedures and demonstrate proficiency.
This structured program ensures your trainers are fully prepared to deliver consistent and compliant safety training.

Do cars need to be certified?
For a wheelchair accessible vehicle is considered commercial applications, they need to be safety inspected by state approve safety site. They will give them a rectangular sticker. They pull into a safety inspection state-approved safety site.
Inspectors will be looking for:
A. Fire Extinguisher
B. First Aid Kit
C. Break down Kit
D. Biohazard Spill Kit.
Once application and paperwork with the State are processed and an inspector from the General. The office will check the vehicles.
What kind of plates do I need on my vehicle?
For a wheelchair accessible vehicle they need to have MC plates, for that they will go the same place to cab drivers, and limousine drivers go to. Any of the Secretary of State (SOS) building.
When they go to the SOS, they will be required to present registration, proof of insurance, safety line inspection sheet.
For a non-wheelchair accessible vehicle, they will need PT plates and they will to the SOS building. When they go to the Secretary of State facility, they will be required to present registration, safety line inspection sheet,

When will I get my certificate?
Medicar Safety Training Program is consists of 2 days or 1 day of Webinar Training and 1 day Onsite Driving Evaluation.
You will receive your Temporary Certificate once you successfully pass the Online Test and the Onsite Driving Evaluation. This certificate will allow you to work as a certified Non-Medicar Emergency Transport Driver.
Your Official Certificate will be mailed to the mailing address that you indicated in the registration form within 7 to 10 business days.
What are the training Schedules for the 2 days Webinar Training
The Medicar Safety Webinar is conducted every other Thursday and Friday from 8am – 12pm OR every other Saturday from 8am to 4pm. Every student should complete an 8-hour webinar session to be able to take the online test.
What if the upcoming scheduled courses does not fit my schedule or I need it sooner?
We can customize the schedule according to your schedule minimum of 4 students. Upon checking our trainers availably, we will open a course.
When can I schedule my Onsite Driving Evaluation?
Who can apply for a certification?
Anyone.
As a general rule of thumb, insurance providers will not insure drivers in commercial driving positions that are under 25 years of age. However, persons may work in different capacities in the transportation industry that do not require
them to actually drive a commercial vehicle.
Can a waiver be obtained in certain cases?
Yes.
Who in the non-emergency transportation business is required to hold a certification?
Everyone.
Why is it important to know how individuals names are displayed on their license?
The State requires the name on the certificate to match the name on the individual’s license.
Why is it important for certification documents to go to the employee?
Because we certify drivers and not companies. In addition, companies believe that if they pay for the certification the certificate belongs to them.
It does not.
By holding onto a certification, after a driver has been discharged or voluntarily leaves the employment it prompts temptation on the companies behalf to commit fraud.
This certification requirement for drivers is a law; it is also an educational platform therefore the fee involved in obtaining the certification is tax deductible.
Can the company request an electronic copy of a driver's certification?
Yes.
However, that request should be made at the time of class registration.
How long is the State required certification valid for?
The official certification issued by the Medicar Safety is valid for three (3) years.
When will I get my certificate?

What’s your refund policy?
Webinar Training Sessions: iDrivio requires at least a 24-hour notice over the phone in case of cancellation for the webinar training sessions. Last-minute cancellations are subject to a $45 cancellation fee. Refund requests after the scheduled training dates will not be accepted. Refunds are limited to 30% of the training fee and are subject to Stripe processing fees and the time involved in managing the refund process.
