Who can apply for a certification?

Anyone.

them to actually drive a commercial vehicle.

Can a waiver be obtained in certain cases?

Yes.

Who in the non-emergency transportation business is required to hold a certification?

Everyone.

Why is it important to know how individuals names are displayed on their license?

The State requires the name on the certificate to match the name on the individual’s license.

Why is it important for certification documents to go to the employee?

Because we certify drivers and not companies. In addition, companies believe that if they pay for the certification the certificate belongs to them.

It does not.

By holding onto a certification, after a driver has been discharged or voluntarily leaves the employment it prompts temptation on the companies behalf to commit fraud.
This certification requirement for drivers is a law; it is also an educational platform therefore the fee involved in obtaining the certification is tax deductible.

Can the company request an electronic copy of a driver's certification?

Yes.

However, that request should be made at the time of class registration.

How long is the State required certification valid for?

The official certification issued by the Medicar Safety is valid for three (3) years.
